Abu Dhabi Advances Data Collaboration With Private Sector For Sustainable Growth

The Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi (SCAD) recently held roundtable discussions with key private sector representatives to enhance data collaboration between private and government entities. This discussion, part of the Data for Good (D4G) initiative, focused on developing a national data framework for Business-to-Government data collaboration, addressing private sector needs and the benefits of the D4G alliance.

The initiative was launched at GITEX Global 2023 in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI). The alliance is structured to foster a symbiotic environment where all stakeholders benefit from B2G data collaboration while advancing Abu Dhabi's economic and social aspirations.

Boosting B2G Data Collaboration

To maximise the benefits of data collaboration for both sides, SCAD has launched a platform allowing private sector companies to register for membership in the D4G Alliance. This alliance seeks to bridge the gap between business and government data, fostering innovation, informed decision-making, and sustainable growth.

During the roundtable, private sector representatives convened to share their perspectives on the D4G initiative and explore potential collaborations. Participants acknowledged the immense value of business-to-government (B2G) data sharing and expressed their eagerness to contribute to Abu Dhabi's data-driven future.

By facilitating data collaboration, both private companies and government entities can gain valuable insights, driving forward strategic initiatives that enhance overall societal and economic development. The discussions highlighted how such collaborations could lead to more informed decisions and innovative solutions.

SCAD's Vision for Data Collaboration

In this context, Abdulla Gharib Alqemzi, Director-General of SCAD, emphasised the importance of the alliance in expanding the benefits of data collaboration for both the private sector and the government. He said, "The D4G initiative represents a significant step forward in Abu Dhabi's journey towards becoming a global leader in data-driven innovation. By supporting collaboration between the government and private sectors, the initiative seeks to unlock new insights and opportunities that will propel the emirate's development across various sectors. Through the D4G Alliance, SCAD aims to create a thriving ecosystem where data is harnessed for the greater good, ultimately enhancing the quality of life in Abu Dhabi."

The alliance aims to create an environment where both public and private sectors can benefit from shared data. This collaborative effort is expected to drive innovation and support sustainable growth within Abu Dhabi.

The roundtable discussions underscored SCAD’s commitment to fostering a collaborative ecosystem that leverages data for societal benefit. By bridging gaps between business and government entities through effective data sharing mechanisms, SCAD hopes to drive forward strategic initiatives that support economic development.

This initiative marks a significant milestone in Abu Dhabi's efforts towards becoming a hub for data-driven innovation. The ongoing dialogue between SCAD and private sector representatives is crucial in shaping a future where data plays a central role in decision-making processes across various sectors.
