Abu Dhabi's Startup Ecosystem Named Fastest-Growing In MENA By 2024 GSER
According to the 2024 Global Startup Ecosystem Report (GSER) by Startup Genome and the Global Entrepreneurship Network, Abu Dhabi has been ranked as the fastest-growing emerging ecosystem in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Between July 2021 and December 2023, Abu Dhabi's ecosystem value surged by 28%, reaching $4.2 billion.
Abu Dhabi's ranking soared 15 places compared to the previous year, placing it in the 61-70 group. Additionally, it ranked #2 in Performance, #5 in Funding, and #5 in Talent & Experience within the MENA Ecosystem. The city has been recognised for its strong presence in sectors like FinTech, AgTech, New Food, and ClimateTech, showcasing a high density of talent and startup activity.
Key players such as Abu Dhabi Global Market, Mubadala Investment Company, ADQ, the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, startAD, and the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development have significantly contributed to this growth. Hub71, Abu Dhabi's global technology ecosystem, has witnessed significant growth in its startup community over the past five years. It now hosts over 315 startups that have collectively raised $1.5 billion. This growth underscores the city's commitment to nurturing a dynamic and supportive environment for new businesses.
