Abu Dhabi Department Of Energy And Dubai Supreme Council Of Energy Sign MoU To Enhance Petroleum Regulation

The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) and the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (SCE) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement, signed during ADIPEC 2025, aims to enhance cooperation in regulating petroleum products trading and monitoring liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and diesel. Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi and Eng. Ahmed Alsayed Mohamed Al Sheebani represented their respective organisations at the signing.

The MoU sets a framework for collaboration between the DoE and SCE to streamline regulatory processes for trading, storing, and transporting petroleum and diesel products. This is aligned with technical, environmental, and safety standards. The agreement also focuses on improving coordination in monitoring, data sharing, and exchanging best practices to enhance oversight and operational efficiency.

Al Muhairbi stated, "This agreement embodies a shared vision to develop an integrated governance system for the trading, storage, and transportation of petroleum products, ensuring the highest standards of efficiency, transparency, and safety. We believe this collaboration represents a pioneering step towards strengthening national integration in the energy sector and supporting the sustainability goals adopted by the UAE." His words highlight the commitment to safety and sustainability within the UAE's energy sector.

Al Sheebani added that this MoU marks a significant move towards regulatory integration between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. He said it supports more efficient operations by aligning regulatory efforts. "By aligning regulatory efforts and enhancing cooperation, we are building a more cohesive and transparent regulatory framework that promotes economic growth and environmental stewardship," he noted.

The agreement includes developing unified licensing procedures for trading petroleum and gas products. The DoE and SCE will collaborate on monitoring activities to enforce safety standards while sharing data to improve regulatory performance.
