Abu Dhabi Department Of Energy And INSEAD Collaborate To Enhance Energy And Water Efficiency
The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) and INSEAD, a global business school, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement aims to enhance collaboration in areas such as energy and water efficiency, sustainability, and promoting behavioural change. The partnership is designed to support sustainable development and bolster Abu Dhabi's reputation as a leading energy hub.
Eng. Mohamed Saleh Al-Hadrami, Acting Director of Energy and Water Efficiency Performance, and Zeina Sleiman, Global Director of Alumni Engagement and Learning at INSEAD, co-signed the MoU. Directors from both organisations were present during the signing. Eng. Ahmed Al Falasi, Executive Director of the Energy Efficiency Sector, remarked that this partnership will enable the testing and implementation of scalable initiatives aimed at fostering resource-conscious behaviour.

The MoU's primary goal is to facilitate knowledge sharing and expertise exchange. It aims to build institutional capacity in energy efficiency while examining consumer behaviours related to electricity and water usage. Collaborative pilot programmes will be launched to improve resource utilisation and raise societal awareness about these issues.
Zeina Sleiman expressed pride in signing the memorandum with the DoE. She stated that it marks an important beginning for a partnership focused on exchanging scientific knowledge and applying it practically in energy efficiency and sustainability fields. The collaboration also involves conducting benchmarking research on energy consumption patterns.
The partnership will focus on developing data-driven strategies to support sustainable policies and practices. A key aspect will be establishing strategic alliances after implementing pilot projects to expand their impact. This approach ensures that the initiatives have a broader reach within society.
Commitment to Institutional Cooperation
A significant element of the MoU is its emphasis on information exchange, research execution, and evaluating pilot programme outcomes. These efforts aim to maintain high standards of institutional cooperation between DoE and INSEAD. The collaboration seeks to ensure that both parties benefit from shared insights and experiences.
This agreement highlights the commitment of both organisations to advancing energy efficiency practices in Abu Dhabi. By focusing on sustainable development goals, they aim to contribute positively to global energy challenges while reinforcing Abu Dhabi's position as an influential player in the energy sector.
