Abu Dhabi To Spearhead Quantum Cybersecurity Discussions At CyberQ Event
The UAE Cyber Security Council, in collaboration with the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), has announced "CyberQ: Security in the Quantum Era." This event is scheduled for 12th and 13th November at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi. The conference aims to address the challenges posed by quantum advancements in cybersecurity.
The event will gather international experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss quantum-age cybersecurity issues. CyberQ intends to lead discussions on preparing for and mitigating emerging threats, positioning the UAE as a leader in quantum-safe cybersecurity solutions.
Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, highlighted the importance of this initiative. He stated, "Under the guidance of the UAE's wise leadership, CyberQ is on time as we get ready to unveil three additional cyber security strategies by the end of this year. These focus on advanced technologies such as cloud and data security, Internet of Things, and Cyber Security Operations Centres, putting the UAE at the forefront of advanced technologies and AI."

Dr. Al-Kuwaiti also mentioned that executive regulations for encryption laws are expected by year-end. These regulations are crucial for securing quantum-compatible data transmissions. He added that establishing the UAE as a global data hub requires robust laws and partnerships across public and private sectors.
Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII, emphasized the dual nature of quantum computing. She said, "Quantum computers promise to solve complex problems at unprecedented speeds. However, they also pose a significant threat to traditional encryption methods. At TII, we're dedicated to developing next-generation cryptographic and quantum communication technologies to safeguard sensitive information against threats like the 'Store Now, Decrypt Later' strategy."
The two-day conference will feature keynote speeches from world-renowned experts in quantum computing and cybersecurity. Attendees can expect panel discussions on how quantum technologies impact current security protocols.
Workshops and Networking
Workshops will be held on implementing quantum-safe cryptography solutions. Participants will have opportunities to network with industry leaders and policymakers. Additionally, there will be demonstrations showcasing cutting-edge quantum-safe technologies.
This inaugural event aims to position the UAE at the forefront of addressing cybersecurity challenges in the quantum era.
