Abu Dhabi Customs Launches Strategic Plan 2024-2028 To Enhance Global Trade Leadership
The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs has introduced its Strategic Plan for 2024–2028. This plan is crafted to align with the vision of the Abu Dhabi Government and the UAE’s forward-thinking strategies. It aims to solidify Abu Dhabi Customs’ status as a leading customs authority worldwide, collaborating with partners to enable secure and legitimate trade through advanced innovations and digital technologies.
Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs, highlighted that the strategic plan continues their path towards sustainable development. The focus is on maintaining leadership both locally and globally among customs authorities. "The plan focuses on employing advanced and modern technologies, particularly blockchain, artificial intelligence, and machine learning," he stated.

The strategic plan is built around six main objectives. These include enhancing customer experience to make Abu Dhabi a preferred trade hub, boosting revenue collection for economic growth, and contributing to community security through improved compliance and risk management. Establishing a culture of excellence through innovation and sustainability is also a priority.
Another key goal is building the future of customs work by managing professional talent effectively. Additionally, leveraging future technology in customs operations aims to achieve digital leadership. These objectives are designed to ensure that Abu Dhabi remains competitive in global trade.
The strategic plan emphasises using advanced technologies like blockchain, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Implementing a coordinated border management system is crucial for enhancing partnerships and cooperation in facilitating trade. Utilising data analysis will generate insights that improve customs operations and support services.
Al Mansoori also mentioned that the roadmap for the next five years includes 28 strategic projects. These projects aim to enhance pre-arrival goods clearance transaction rates in Abu Dhabi. Reducing average clearance time is another expected outcome of these initiatives.
Expected Outcomes and Compliance Goals
The strategic plan aims for 100% compliance with international agreements, policies, and customs procedures. This commitment ensures that Abu Dhabi Customs meets global standards while improving efficiency in operations. Such measures are expected to significantly enhance customer experience.
By focusing on these areas, Abu Dhabi Customs seeks to reinforce its position as a world-class authority in customs operations. The integration of modern technology will play a pivotal role in achieving these goals over the next five years.
The comprehensive approach outlined in the strategic plan reflects a commitment to innovation and excellence. By aligning with broader governmental visions, Abu Dhabi Customs aims to contribute significantly to economic growth while ensuring secure trade practices.
