Abu Dhabi Chamber Launches Inaugural Sustainability Label Programme For Local Businesses
The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry has introduced its first Sustainability Label Programme. This initiative aims to enhance the sustainability readiness, competitiveness, and resilience of businesses in Abu Dhabi. It aligns with the emirate's economic priorities, offering companies guidance, support, and recognition to meet global sustainability expectations and access new markets and investments.
Launching amid growing demands for responsible business practices, the programme helps companies demonstrate transparent governance and measurable progress. It supports Abu Dhabi’s Falcon Economy by introducing a tiered system for assessing sustainability maturity. Companies can progress through Diamond, Gold, Silver, and Bronze levels, combining assessment with capability building.

The programme offers a comprehensive development journey for participants. This includes guided assessment workshops with specialists, maturity scorecards, tailored reports outlining priority actions, advisory consultations, and capability-building sessions. Sustainable finance training is also provided in collaboration with local banking partners.
Shamis Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Second Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Chamber, stated: "Sustainability has become central to how businesses earn trust, open new opportunities and secure their place in the future of the global economy. Through this programme, we are giving our members the support they need to build credibility, attract investment and compete with confidence in international markets."
Participants will receive practical toolkits like a Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions calculator and a reporting checklist to aid responsible disclosure. Some companies from the inaugural cohort will be recognised during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. This event provides a global stage to showcase their commitment to sustainable practices.
Ali Mohamed Al Marzooqi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber, remarked: "The Chamber represents the full strength and diversity of Abu Dhabi’s private sector. By supporting our companies in their sustainability journey, we are enabling long-term growth, improving access to finance and equipping our business community for the expectations of a changing global landscape."
Accessing Resources
The first cohort's participation is free of charge for Chamber members. This offers them early access to the Sustainability Label framework and advisory resources. The Chamber aims to empower the business community by elevating standards across Abu Dhabi through this initiative.
This programme signifies an important step towards building a more resilient private sector that contributes positively to society's well-being while supporting Abu Dhabi's future development goals.
