Abu Dhabi Book Fair Lauded For Fostering Global Cultural Dialogue
Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, recently highlighted the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair's pivotal role as a premier global platform for intellectual and cultural exchange among diverse civilizations. His remarks underscored the event's effectiveness in fostering awareness and promoting cultural values across nations. Abdelsalam lauded the United Arab Emirates for its dedicated support of thought, creativity, and culture under its visionary leadership, contributions that have significantly enhanced the worldwide cultural domain while advocating for dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
Abdelsalam's statement also brought attention to Egypt's designation as the guest of honour at this year's book fair, a move that underscores the profound fraternal relations and cultural bonds between the UAE and the Arab Republic of Egypt. This choice reflects both countries' commitment to bolstering cultural cooperation and sharing expertise across various sectors. He expressed profound respect for Egypt's historical influence and its contributions to thought, literature, and science, which have left an indelible mark on intellectual and cultural spheres.

The participation of the Muslim Council of Elders in the book fair was another focal point of Abdelsalam's address. The council showcased over 220 publications in five different languages, including 22 new titles that delve into pressing issues. The council's involvement also extended to a rich cultural programme featuring discussions on dialogue, tolerance, peacebuilding, and environmental concerns. This initiative aligns with the council's overarching mission, led by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed el-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, to champion peace and reinforce the principles of dialogue, tolerance, and coexistence.
The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair thus stands as a testament to the UAE's ongoing commitment to nurturing a global cultural dialogue. Through its inclusive platform, it not only celebrates literary and intellectual achievements but also facilitates a deeper understanding and appreciation among civilizations. The fair's role in promoting cultural exchange and mutual respect is a clear reflection of its significance in today’s interconnected world.
