Abu Dhabi And Beijing Forge Strategic Partnership To Enhance Financial Collaboration

Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Beijing Financial Street Service Bureau. This agreement was signed during Abu Dhabi Finance Week 2024, coinciding with the UAE-China Investment Summit presented by HSBC. The MoU aims to strengthen ties in international development and industry promotion, enhancing growth for both ADGM and Beijing Financial Street.

The announcement of this MoU was made by Zhang Yiming, China's Ambassador to the UAE. He highlighted the UAE's pivotal role as a gateway for Chinese businesses in the Middle East. Zhang noted that this agreement is crucial for boosting bilateral exchanges and strengthening financial ties between Abu Dhabi and Beijing.

Abu Dhabi and Beijing Strengthen Financial Ties

This partnership builds on a foundation laid in September 2018 when an initial MoU was signed between ADGM’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority and the Beijing Financial Street Service Bureau. In August 2024, Liu Dongwei, Mayor of Xicheng District, led a delegation to Abu Dhabi, resulting in an agreement to further enhance bilateral relations.

Lu Wuxing, Director General of Beijing Financial Street Service Bureau, stated, "This collaboration leverages the unique strengths of both parties. Through platforms like the Financial Street Forum and Abu Dhabi Finance Week, we aim to enhance industry exchanges, encourage cross-border business establishment, and drive the coordinated development of Beijing as a National Financial Management Center and Abu Dhabi as an International Financial Center."

Salem Al Darei, CEO of ADGM Authority, expressed that this MoU represents a shared vision for impactful collaboration. He said it sets the stage for deeper engagement and opens new opportunities between Abu Dhabi and Beijing's financial ecosystems. Al Darei emphasized ADGM’s dedication to fostering global partnerships and advancing Abu Dhabi’s status as a leading international financial hub.

This strategic partnership underscores the growing trend of two-way collaboration between China and the UAE. It highlights how both regions are working together to promote mutual growth in their respective financial sectors.
