Abu Dhabi Aviation And Archer Aviation Collaborate To Launch Midnight Electric Aircraft In UAE

Abu Dhabi Aviation Group (ADA) has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Archer Aviation. This agreement aims to introduce the first fleet of Midnight electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft globally, starting this year. The initiative is part of Archer's global "Launch Edition," which began in Abu Dhabi in collaboration with ADA.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Nader Al Hammadi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Aviation, and Badr Al Olama, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO). During the event, Abu Dhabi Aviation revealed its plan to finance the deployment of Midnight, positioning itself as the region's pioneer operator of electric air taxis.

Archer and ADA will work together to create a framework that allows Archer to establish a practical and repeatable strategy for deploying Midnight commercially. This collaboration will focus on multiple early adopter markets, building operational expertise, generating revenue, and strengthening long-term demand.

In addition to deploying aircraft, Archer will provide ADA with experienced pilots, technicians, and engineers. This team will support the initial operational ramp-up to ensure safe and efficient deployment. Archer also plans to offer an integrated software infrastructure, including a booking application for urban air mobility operations.

Archer's Midnight is designed as a piloted aircraft capable of carrying four passengers. It can perform consecutive flights with minimal charging time between them. The goal is to transform urban travel by replacing lengthy car commutes with quick 10 to 20-minute electric air taxi flights that are safe, sustainable, and quiet.

Pioneering Electric Air Taxi Services

Nader Al Hammadi expressed pride in partnering with Archer to introduce eVTOL technology in the UAE. He stated that Abu Dhabi Aviation is well-positioned as a leading force in regional aviation and the largest helicopter operator in the Middle East. The company aims to develop scalable urban air mobility services and lead the launch of electric air taxi services in Abu Dhabi.

Archer's vision includes transforming urban travel by significantly reducing commute times through safe and sustainable electric air taxi flights. This partnership with ADA marks an important step towards achieving this goal while setting a precedent for future deployments worldwide.
