Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week 2025 Establishes Emirate As A Global Leader In Smart Mobility And Autonomous Systems
The first Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week (ADAW) 2025 has positioned the emirate as a leader in smart and sustainable mobility. Organised by the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC), this week-long event gathered global policymakers, investors, innovators, and researchers to advance the deployment and regulation of autonomous technologies across various sectors.
Over six days, ADAW 2025 attracted more than 15,000 attendees who witnessed live demonstrations of cutting-edge autonomous innovations across land, sea, and air. The event also showcased robotics and industrial applications. New autonomous technologies were launched, including delivery services, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s leadership in developing sustainable operating ecosystems.

The week featured four flagship events: Abu Dhabi Autonomous Summit, DRIFTx, RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) 2025, and Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL). More than 40 strategic agreements were signed between UAE and international partners. These agreements aim to strengthen cross-sector collaboration and support the emirate’s long-term strategy for deploying next-generation autonomous systems.
Opening the week was the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Summit with 400 participants. National leaders, senior officials, and global industry experts discussed future regulations, policies, and deployment of smart systems. The summit hosted additional sessions on AI-human collaboration to build trust in intelligent systems and urban mobility transformation through integrated infrastructure.
A series of landmark announcements during the week highlighted Abu Dhabi’s regulatory leadership. Among these was an agreement between the Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industries (SAVI) cluster and the Integrated Transport Centre with Silicon Valley-based Tensor Auto. This agreement enables commercial deployment of Tensor’s Level 4 autonomous Robocars.
The launch of Abu Dhabi’s first vertiport network was also revealed alongside multiple agreements across autonomous logistics, smart ports, fleet automation, and advanced aerial mobility with partners like LODD Autonomous, Archer Aviation, Glydways, CaoCao, Aramex, noon, Talabat, ADNOC, and Emirates Post.
Showcasing Innovation
Held at Yas Marina Circuit, DRIFTx featured real-world demonstrations of autonomous technologies across air, land, and sea. Visitors experienced robotaxis, humanoid robots, eVTOLs (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft), autonomous boats, and last-mile delivery solutions. Flight displays by ASPIRE reflected Abu Dhabi’s commitment to applied innovation.
Khalifa University hosted RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) 2025 throughout ADAW. The competition showcased global robotics talent with over 2,000 attendees witnessing 166 teams from 22 countries competing in disciplines like humanoid soccer and disaster-response robotics.
Future of Motorsport
The week concluded with the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL) at Yas Marina Circuit. Six fully driverless race cars competed in a world-first Grand Final showcasing high-performance autonomous motorsport. AI-driven cars closed gaps with human benchmark lap times during qualifying rounds.
The Grand Final made history as the world’s largest autonomous race featuring teams from Germany's TUM (Technical University of Munich), Italy's Unimore (University of Modena), UAE-based Kinetiz among others.
Vision for Autonomy
Faisal Al Bannai stated: "Abu Dhabi is already driving the global conversation on autonomy...Abu Dhabi is where you can turn ambition into impact." Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa added: "Abu Dhabi is recognised as a destination where the future is not just imagined but lived...Our edge in attracting investment is simple: with the right regulatory framework."
Professor Ebrahim Al Hajri said: "The UAE has hosted RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2025...We congratulate the winners...At Khalifa University we nurture future generations of home-grown talent."
The initiatives launched during ADAW 2025 demonstrate how technology can create a sustainable future. Through partnerships formed during this eventful week in Abu Dhabi's journey towards autonomy continues strong.
