Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre Invites Applications For 2025 Research Grants Programme
The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) has introduced the fifth edition of its Research Grants Programme for 2025. Applications and nominations are open from 23rd January until the end of February 2025. Researchers can apply by filling out the form on the ALC's official website. This initiative aims to promote innovative research in Arabic language studies, enhancing its status and fostering intellectual growth.
The programme offers six to eight grants annually, with a total value reaching AED600,000. These grants cover various fields such as Arabic lexicon, academic curricula, literature and criticism, teaching Arabic to non-Arabic speakers, applied and computational linguistics, and manuscript editing in all areas of Arabic language.

Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of the ALC, stated that "The Research Grants Programme reinforces the Centre’s efforts to establish a solid database for rigorous Arabic-language research and studies, in addition to advancing scientific research in Arabic and expanding its horizons, with a focus on originality and innovation." He expressed confidence that this edition will make significant contributions.
Since its inception, the programme has awarded 28 grants across various disciplines. It has become an essential platform for researchers dedicated to bringing fresh insights into Arabic studies. The programme sets key standards in Arabic-language writing and scientific research.
This initiative is part of ALC's strategic plan to empower Emirati and Arab researchers while promoting Arabic as a language of science, culture, and creativity. By supporting pioneering research, it strengthens Abu Dhabi's role in enhancing the global presence of the Arabic language.
Researchers are encouraged to submit proposals that adhere to rigorous academic standards. Submissions must be in Arabic with at least 50,000 words and should be original and unpublished. The ALC retains exclusive publishing rights for all funded research across six supported categories.
Evaluation Criteria
Submissions will be evaluated based on international standards. The assessment will consider the merit and novelty of the research, its potential impact, and alignment with ALC’s strategic objectives. The qualifications of the lead researcher and any associates will also be taken into account.
The anticipated contribution of the research to developing the Arabic language is crucial in the evaluation process. This programme offers researchers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly while supporting ALC’s mission to enhance cultural leadership.
The Research Grants Programme continues to play a vital role within ALC's initiatives by encouraging innovative projects that advance scientific research in Arabic. It remains committed to building a comprehensive database that serves both regional and global communities effectively.
