Abu Dhabi Agriculture And Food Safety Authority Delegation Advances Local Production And Food Safety Initiatives

H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain Region, underscored the UAE leadership’s focus on agriculture, livestock and food safety during a meeting with Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority. The discussion highlighted how these sectors support the country’s long-term strategic food security and economic resilience.

Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan reiterated that the leadership, led by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, views these sectors as critical. The priority is to strengthen food security through sustainable policies, support for producers and continuous improvements in regulatory oversight and operational performance across related value chains.

During the meeting, Sheikh Hazza received an update on Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority’s main strategic projects. The briefing covered programmes to increase local agricultural and livestock production, raise the efficiency of food supply chains, and upgrade infrastructure in farms, markets and related facilities across the emirate and wider UAE.

Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority experts also presented detailed plans to enhance food safety systems and strengthen inspection procedures. The authority outlined awareness campaigns on safe handling of food products, alongside initiatives to support research, innovation and the wider use of advanced technologies in agriculture, food production and livestock protection.

The delegation from Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority was led by Dr. Tariq Ahmed Al Ameri, Acting Director-General of the authority. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended the meeting, which reviewed how ADAFSA’s programmes align with national strategies for agriculture, livestock and food safety development.

Sheikh Hazza stressed the need for targeted initiatives and high-impact projects within an integrated sustainability framework. The goal is to raise productivity, support efficient resource use and maintain strong, reliable food supply systems. The emphasis was on practical implementation and measurable outcomes that benefit producers, consumers and the wider economy.
