Abdullah Bin Zayed Discusses Strengthening UAE-Syria Relations With Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shibani
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, recently met with Asaad al-Shibani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Syrian Transitional Government. The meeting focused on strengthening the fraternal ties between their nations and exploring areas of mutual interest. Discussions also covered the latest developments in Syria and regional issues.
Sheikh Abdullah reiterated the UAE's unwavering support for Syria's independence and sovereignty over its entire territory. He highlighted the UAE's commitment to backing regional and international efforts that aim to achieve security, peace, stability, and a dignified life for the Syrian people. The importance of ensuring factors necessary for Syria's future prosperity was also emphasised.
The meeting was attended by several key figures from both countries. From the UAE side, attendees included Mohammed bin Mubarak Fadel Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defence Affairs; Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State; Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs; and Hassan Ahmed Al Shehhi, UAE Ambassador to Syria.
The Syrian delegation comprised Murhaf Abu Qasra, Minister of Defence; Omar al-Shuqruq, Minister of Electricity; Ghiath Diab, Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources; and Anas Khattab, Intelligence Chief. These representatives discussed various issues concerning both nations during their visit.
Sheikh Abdullah welcomed al-Shibani and his delegation warmly. He stressed the UAE's solidarity with the Syrian people in their quest for a stable future. "The UAE stands firm in supporting Syria's sovereignty," he stated during their discussions.
The dialogue also touched upon several pressing matters affecting both countries. By addressing these concerns together, they aim to foster stronger cooperation and understanding between their peoples.
This meeting underscores the ongoing efforts by both nations to enhance bilateral relations while addressing regional challenges collaboratively. The UAE remains committed to supporting Syria in achieving long-term peace and development goals.
