Abdulla Al Hamed Leads UAE Delegation To Discuss Media Challenges At Arab Media Forum In Kuwait
The Arab Media Forum in Kuwait recently welcomed a delegation from the UAE, led by Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed. The event, under the patronage of Kuwait's Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, runs until May 12. This year's theme is "Media Challenges in the Era of Technological Advancement and Digital Transformation".
The UAE holds the position of Guest of Honour at this forum, highlighting its influential role in the Arab media landscape. This recognition underscores the UAE's commitment to fostering professional media practices and promoting cultural dialogue on both regional and international levels.

Al Hamed emphasised the strong bond between the UAE and Kuwait, describing it as a unique fraternal model that continues to deepen over time. He attributed this relationship to the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
He conveyed greetings from UAE leadership and expressed gratitude to forum participants for their efforts in advancing media missions. He praised Kuwait for selecting the UAE as Guest of Honour and acknowledged past successes in fostering cooperation among Arab media institutions.
Al Hamed highlighted significant challenges facing today's media landscape, particularly with social media's rise. While these platforms offer connection opportunities, they are often misused for spreading misinformation and societal disruption. He called for a joint Arab legislative framework to address these issues responsibly.
He stressed that media institutions must reassess their tools due to digital space openness. Effective persuasion now relies on content depth, authenticity, and relevance rather than sheer volume.
UAE's Commitment to Media Development
The NMO Chairman affirmed that media is crucial for development and progress, reflecting achievements and envisioning future possibilities. The UAE aims to build a modern media system aligned with global advancements while maintaining its Islamic and Arab identity.
He outlined recent initiatives aimed at enhancing media quality and standards. These efforts are supported by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, who views media as central to national development strategies.
Global "Bridge" Summit Initiative
The UAE has launched the Global "Bridge" Summit to establish international partnerships for an advanced media future based on knowledge, innovation, and shared values. This summit will connect East and West, enhancing integration with digital transformations for a responsible future.
Al Hamed invited participation in this summit to advance Arab media internationally. He emphasised that insights from participants will enrich discussions and help achieve summit goals.
The Role of Media Today
"The media is used today as the weapon of our time and a powerful tool for change and influence," said Al Hamed. He urged using it as an instrument for construction, dialogue among cultures, truth reflection, value representation, and building a better future.
He concluded by stressing that rebuilding responsible media capable of engagement is urgent. Unified Arab visions are needed with updated messaging focused on sustainable development support.
