Sharjah Airport Achieves Strong Growth With 9.1 Million Passengers In First Half Of 2025
Sharjah Airport experienced a notable rise in operations during the first half of 2025. Passenger numbers climbed to 9,110,397, marking a 10% increase from the same period in 2024, which had 8,313,811 passengers. Aircraft movements also saw a rise of 4.3%, totalling 54,953 compared to last year's 52,695. Cargo handling operations reached a new peak with a growth of 6.36%, amounting to 102,427 tonnes.
These achievements highlight Sharjah Airport's operational flexibility and efficiency in managing the ongoing rise in regional and international travel and cargo activities. The airport's strategic investments have been pivotal in meeting passenger expectations and enhancing its status among regional airports. The aim is to rank among the top five airports in the region by providing advanced services and ensuring a seamless travel experience.

Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, emphasised that these positive outcomes result from continuous investments made alongside strategic partners. "Sharjah Airport continues to align with Sharjah’s aspirations to be a preferred destination for travel, tourism, and business," he stated. The airport remains committed to ambitious development plans focusing on infrastructure enhancement and smart services.
The growth trend is anticipated to persist as expansion projects are underway to boost the airport’s capacity to accommodate 25 million passengers annually by the end of 2027. These plans include adopting cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices that bolster passenger confidence while supporting sustainable development across the UAE.
