575 Publishers From 92 Countries To Attend The 4th International Booksellers Conference In Sharjah

The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) is set to host the fourth International Booksellers Conference on 7–8 April at Expo Centre Sharjah. This global event will gather 575 prominent booksellers, publishers, and distributors from 92 countries. The aim is to discuss industry challenges, strengthen partnerships, and explore new business opportunities. The conference will feature panel discussions, workshops, and keynote speeches by industry experts.

Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of SBA, highlighted the importance of this conference in addressing the challenges faced by the book distribution sector. He stated, "While modern technology has brought markets closer together, the book distribution sector continues to face significant challenges. Since its inception, the International Booksellers Conference has aimed to address these challenges by fostering dialogue among distributors, publishers, and industry leaders while offering practical solutions."

The conference aims to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange while exploring new opportunities in book distribution. It seeks to develop innovative strategies for global market growth. Discussions will cover key trends like AI's role in bookselling and its potential to boost sales and operational efficiency. Modern marketing strategies on social media and the influence of book influencers on Instagram will also be explored.

As digital transformation accelerates, Al Ameri emphasised Sharjah’s commitment to advancing the publishing sector. He noted that the conference provides a vital opportunity for stakeholders to connect and collaborate. "Guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi...the conference has grown into a global platform that drives the development of book distribution," he added.

This year’s event will delve into data management's role in enhancing customer experiences and sales strategies within book distribution. Discussions will focus on diversifying bookstore offerings to attract new audiences. The significance of placing books in waiting areas and reception spaces will be highlighted as a means to promote reading culture.
