30th ITS World Congress And Exhibition In Dubai Attracts Over 25,000 Participants And Global Experts

The 30th ITS World Congress and Exhibition concluded at the Dubai World Trade Centre, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The event, held from 16th to 20th September 2024, was attended by Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and Angelos Amditis, Director-General of ERTICO Europe.

More than 25,000 participants from 100 countries attended the congress, marking a record in its history. The event featured over 800 speakers who shared insights on sustainable mobility across 200 scientific and dialogue sessions. A successful exhibition ran alongside the congress with 500 exhibitors showcasing their innovations.

Successful Conclusion of ITS World Congress in Dubai

The congress gathered global experts in smart transportation, including speakers from the international ITS community. Representatives from various sectors such as vehicle manufacturers, service providers, telecommunications providers, solution developers, researchers, and academics participated. Government representatives and ministries worldwide contributed to diverse discussions over five days.

During the closing ceremony, Mattar Al Tayer and Angelos Amditis handed over the globe for the next edition to be held in Atlanta, USA. The globe was passed among several ERTICO officials and future host city representatives. Videos highlighted upcoming editions in Atlanta (2025), Gangneung (2026), and Birmingham (2027).

Angelos Amditis expressed gratitude to Dubai and RTA for hosting this successful edition of the ITS World Congress. He noted that over 23,000 participants engaged in discussions about future mobility developments. The event provided an inspiring platform for presenting holistic visions in mobility and smart systems.

Amditis also announced ERTICO's launch of a new aerial services platform, inviting participation from all attendees. This initiative aims to further enhance discussions around innovative transportation solutions.

Key Topics Explored

Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of Corporate Administrative Support Sector at RTA, highlighted the success of this first Middle East-hosted edition. He stated that key topics related to smart transportation systems were discussed over five days through more than 200 sessions. These included formal functions, international forums, regional forums, and technical sessions focusing on urban mobility, innovation in transport logistics, sustainable mobility, and autonomous mobility.

The congress showcased cutting-edge technologies with over 500 exhibitors displaying their latest innovations in future mobility solutions. This diverse range of presentations underscored Dubai's commitment to advancing smart transportation systems globally.
