MoHRE Sanctions 14 Domestic Worker Recruitment Agencies For Failing To Refund Fees In January
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has taken legal and administrative measures against 14 domestic worker recruitment agencies. This action, occurring in January, followed the detection of 22 violations related to the Domestic Workers Law and associated regulations. The Ministry is committed to ensuring compliance with these laws to protect all parties involved.
Among the violations, 20 cases involved agencies failing to refund recruitment fees within two weeks after a domestic worker's return or reported absence. Additionally, two instances of non-compliance with MoHRE's regulations and guidelines were identified. The Ministry emphasised its dedication to addressing such breaches seriously and transparently.

MoHRE has reiterated its commitment to monitoring recruitment agencies closely. It aims to ensure these agencies adhere to legal conditions and regulations, safeguarding the rights of employers and workers alike. The Ministry stressed that any agency found violating these standards could face licence revocation if warranted by the severity of their actions.
The Ministry encourages employers to report any agency violations through approved digital channels or by contacting the Labour Claims and Advisory Call Centre at 80084. This is especially important for issues like delayed refunds of recruitment fees. MoHRE remains open to employer feedback on agency performance.
Domestic worker recruitment agencies play a vital role in delivering quality services. They are responsible for providing qualified workers who meet job requirements while complying with legal frameworks governing employment relationships. The Ministry highlighted this responsibility as crucial for maintaining service standards.
MoHRE advised families, both national and resident, against engaging with unlicensed recruitment agencies or unreliable social media pages offering such services. These practices pose health and security risks and may lead to legal consequences for hiring unlicensed workers.
Avoiding Unlawful Practices
To prevent falling victim to fraudulent operations, employers should consult the official list of licensed agencies available on MoHRE's website at www.mohre.gov.ae. This step helps avoid misleading practices and ensures compliance with lawful procedures, reducing potential problems or risks associated with hiring domestic workers.
The Ministry remains dedicated to upholding legal standards in domestic worker recruitment, ensuring that all parties involved are protected under the law. By maintaining strict oversight, MoHRE aims to foster a fair and transparent environment for both employers and workers in this sector.
