The 1 Billion Followers Summit, organised by the UAE Government Media Office, has extended the deadline for submissions to the world’s largest AI-Generated Film Award until 5th December 2025. This decision was made due to significant global interest and participation from content creators worldwide. The award, in partnership with Google Gemini, offers a prize of US$1 million, making it the largest of its kind.

Submissions have poured in from 73 countries, totalling over 16,380 entries. The Middle East contributed 5,952 entries, while Asia submitted 3,777. North Africa accounted for 3,455 entries, Europe for 1,386, the US for 1,024, and other regions added 790. This reflects widespread global interest in this prestigious award.

AI Film Award Submission Deadline Extended

The award aims to promote meaningful films using AI tools powered by Google Gemini. It seeks to raise awareness of humanitarian messages and enhance creative capabilities globally. Anthony Nakache from Google MENA stated that AI should amplify creativity and storytelling. He expressed satisfaction with the number of entries and looked forward to more submissions with the extended deadline.

Alia AlHammadi of the UAE Government Media Office highlighted that extending the submission period aligns with their vision to empower content creators. She emphasised the UAE's role in attracting creators and providing a platform for sharing impactful content that inspires positive change across social media platforms.

To qualify for submission, at least 70% of each film must be created using generative AI tools from Google or others built on Google Gemini technology. Films should be creative and realistic, addressing themes like "Rewriting the Future" or "The Secret Life of Everything." Each film must be between 7 to 10 minutes long and submitted under a single individual's name via the Summit website.

The judging phase will occur from 6th to 15th December to select the top ten finalists. Public voting will follow from 18th to 25th December to determine the top five films. These finalists will be announced on 8th January 2026 and showcased during the Summit on 10th January.
