Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis Set For Game 1 Return In NBA Finals Against Mavericks
The Boston Celtics are set to welcome back starting center Kristaps Porzingis on Thursday as they host the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Porzingis, who sustained a right calf strain in Game 4 of the opening round against the Miami Heat on April 29, had been averaging 14 points and 5.7 rebounds in the first three games.
Following Porzingis' injury, Al Horford stepped into the starting lineup, contributing an average of 10.7 points and 7.3 rebounds over 10 games. This performance helped Boston achieve a 9-1 record, propelling them to the NBA Finals for the second time in three seasons.

The Celtics acquired Porzingis from the Washington Wizards last June. The fourth overall pick of the 2015 NBA Draft has averaged 20.1 points and 7.2 rebounds in 57 games for Boston this season. Porzingis previously played part of three seasons with Dallas before being traded to Washington in February 2022.
