The NBA has imposed a $100,000 fine on the Philadelphia 76ers for not adhering to the league's injury reporting regulations concerning Joel Embiid's comeback. However, the Sixers found themselves in breach of the NBA's injury reporting policies after initially indicating that Embiid would not participate in the Thunder game. The player was listed as 'out' for 24 hours before being suddenly upgraded to 'questionable' just an hour and fifteen minutes before being named in the starting lineup for the game. The NBA released a statement on April 5, 2024, through NBA Communications on Twitter, clarifying the situation and announcing the fine.

The league's statement highlighted that the 76ers failed to accurately disclose Joel Embiid's game availability status before their April 2 game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
