Paul George Fully Commits To 76ers, Reflects Positively On Clippers Tenure
Paul George is fully committed to the Philadelphia 76ers, confident in their potential to clinch the NBA championship. After not receiving a full max contract from the Los Angeles Clippers, George joined the Sixers. Despite this, he harbours no resentment towards his former team.
"Amazing time. No regret," George said. "They went out and gave me an opportunity to play at home, which, at that point in time was a ton of value for myself to be able to play in front of my family, my friends, and have a legitimate shot to chase a championship every season. Obviously, injuries kind of deterred us a little bit. But just to speak on that situation as a whole, there's no ill will. Again, forever grateful for the opportunity that they gave me to come back. We had a great mutual talk as it all played out, and I felt it was great closure on the situation. I'm happy for them, they're happy for me, and I'm a Sixer now. So that's behind me."

George believes everything is falling into place perfectly for the 76ers. "I thought everything just aligned perfectly," George stated. "Where they're at and where they're trying to go and where I'm trying to get to, as well. I think we got a real legitimate shot."
He has always admired Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid from afar. "I've always been a fan of Tyrese and Joel from afar," he added. "Joel has secretly been one of my closest All-Star Game friends." This connection made it feel inevitable that they would eventually become teammates.
George is eager about his new chapter with the 76ers and is ready to contribute significantly alongside Embiid. He emphasised his commitment by saying, "So I'm all-in. My family's here all-in, and I'm excited, and looking forward to this next opportunity."
A crucial role George aims to fulfil is easing the burden on Joel Embiid, who had an injury-plagued season last year. "I think just taking the pressure off Joel," George mentioned.
He believes he can help Embiid stay healthy throughout the season by sharing responsibilities on the court. "And again, it's just not putting so much pressure on him," George explained.
George highlighted how excessive pressure can lead to injuries due to overplaying and physical strain. He stressed the importance of everyone contributing equally: "Everybody do their part, make sure we're working on our bodies."
This approach aims to prevent any single player from bearing too much responsibility for winning games.
The 34-year-old reflected positively on his time with the Clippers despite their parting ways: "We had a great mutual talk as it all played out." He expressed gratitude for being able to play close to home during his stint with them.
Now focused on his future with Philadelphia, George feels optimistic about their chances: "I think we got a real legitimate shot." His enthusiasm is shared by his family who are also fully supportive of this new journey.
The transition appears smooth as both parties are content with how things unfolded: "I'm happy for them; they're happy for me." This mutual satisfaction marks a positive start for George's tenure with the 76ers.
As he integrates into his new team dynamics in Philadelphia, George's primary goal remains clear – helping lead them towards an NBA championship while ensuring key players like Embiid remain fit throughout the season.
The synergy between George and Embiid could prove pivotal in achieving their shared aspirations within this competitive league environment.
