OG Anunoby To Stay With Knicks On A Five-Year $212.5 Million Contract
OG Anunoby has decided to re-sign with the New York Knicks, agreeing to a five-year contract worth $212.5 million. The agreement includes a player option and a trade kicker. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN first reported this on Wednesday. The contract can be officially signed on July 6, after the NBA's moratorium period for free agents ends.
New York acquired Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors at the end of December in exchange for RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley. In his 23 regular-season games with the Knicks, Anunoby averaged 14.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.74 steals per game.

The announcement came just a day after the Knicks completed a major trade with the Brooklyn Nets for forward Mikal Bridges. This move is part of New York's strategy to strengthen their roster for the upcoming season.
Anunoby was drafted 23rd overall by the Raptors in 2017. Over seven seasons, he has career averages of 12.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.26 steals per game.
In the Eastern Conference semi-finals against the Indiana Pacers, Anunoby scored 28 points in Game 2 to help the Knicks take a 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, he sustained a hamstring injury during that game and played only five minutes for the rest of the playoffs as New York was eliminated in seven games.

Anunoby's performance during his short stint with the Knicks has been promising despite his injury setback in the playoffs. His contributions were crucial in several key games leading up to their semi-final appearance.
The Knicks are optimistic about what Anunoby can bring to their team over the next five years as they aim for deeper playoff runs and potential championship contention.
