Miami Heat's Bam Adebayo To Stay Until 2029 With $166 Million Deal

Miami Heat's Bam Adebayo will extend his contract with the team for three years, worth $166 million, according to multiple sources. The 26-year-old All-Star plans to sign the deal after the free agent period ends on July 6. This extension will keep him with the Heat through the 2028-29 season.

Adebayo has two seasons left on his current five-year, $163 million contract signed in 2020. He has been a key player for Miami since being drafted 14th overall in 2017. Over his seven-year career, he has become a cornerstone for the team, which reached the NBA Finals in both 2020 and 2023.

Adebayo's $166M Deal with Heat

The former University of Kentucky star earned his third All-Star selection in the 2023-24 season. He averaged 19.3 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 3.9 assists over 71 games that season. His defensive prowess also earned him a spot on the All-Defensive First Team this past season.

Adebayo is one of seven active players to average at least 15 points and nine rebounds per game over the last five seasons. His career averages stand at 15.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game across 489 regular-season games.

In addition to his regular-season success, Adebayo has played in 74 post-season games. During these outings, he has averaged 16.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. His contributions have been vital for Miami's playoff runs.

Adebayo will also represent the United States in his second Olympics this summer in Paris. He previously helped Team USA secure a gold medal at the Tokyo Games in 2020.

Contract Extension Details

The new contract extension underscores Miami's commitment to Adebayo as their cornerstone center through the end of the decade. "The Miami Heat and Bam Adebayo—a three-time All-Star and three-time All-Defensive player—intend to reach a three-year, $166 million maximum contract extension," reported Shams Charania via Twitter.

Adebayo's impact on both ends of the court makes him invaluable to Miami's future success. His consistent performance has solidified his role as one of the league’s top centers.

This new deal ensures that Adebayo remains a central figure for Miami as they aim for more championship runs in upcoming seasons.
