LeBron James Hails Kyrie Irving As NBA's Most Gifted, Eyes On Mavericks' Victory
Kyrie Irving is considered the most talented player in NBA history and is crucial to the Dallas Mavericks' success in the NBA Finals, according to former teammate LeBron James. James and Irving played together with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2014 to 2017, reaching the NBA Finals each season and winning the championship in 2015-16.
After his time with the Cavaliers, Irving had stints with the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets before joining Dallas last February. During the offseason, he has been in excellent form, averaging 22.8 points and 5.2 assists per game while shooting 48.5 per cent from the field. This performance has positioned Dallas as a strong contender for their second NBA championship.

Speaking on his 'Mind the Game' podcast, James expressed his admiration for Irving's growth. "I'm so happy and so proud to watch him continue his growth. I'm so mad at the same time that I'm not his running mate any more," James said. He often referred to Irving as 'the wizard,' highlighting his exceptional skills on the basketball court.
Postseason Performance
Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks have each scored over 30 points in the same game three times this postseason. The only other teammate duos to achieve this in their first postseason together are Devin Booker/Kevin Durant (four times in 2022-23) and Stephen Curry/Kevin Durant (three times in 2016-17).

Key Moments and Future Prospects
James highlighted Irving's performance in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals against the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he scored 24 of his 30 points in the first half, as a standout moment of this postseason. Despite Boston being favourites for the NBA Finals, which begin on Thursday at TD Garden, James believes Irving's abilities give Dallas a fighting chance.
"That was like, 'oh, Dallas may be able to not only win the Western Conference finals, they might be able to win the whole thing,'" James said of Irving's Game 1 display. "Because of that wild card. He's the most gifted player the NBA has ever seen."
