NBA Playoffs: Heat Draw Even With Celtics As Thunder Overwhelm Pelicans For 2-0 Lead

In a thrilling display of precision and skill, the Miami Heat set a new franchise playoff record with 23 three-pointers, propelling them to a 111-101 victory over the Boston Celtics. This win on Wednesday evening leveled their first-round series at one game each. Tyler Herro emerged as a standout performer, contributing 24 points and 14 assists, alongside hitting six three-pointers. Bam Adebayo supported the team's effort with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Caleb Martin matched Adebayo's point tally and added five three-pointers to the mix.

The Heat's exceptional shooting from beyond the arc, achieving a 53.5 percent success rate (23 of 43), surpassed their previous playoff record of 20 three-pointers set against Milwaukee in 2021. Additional contributions came from Jaime Jaquez Jr., who scored 14 points including three three-pointers, Nikola Jovic with nine rebounds and six assists, and Haywood Highsmith from the bench who also netted three three-pointers.

Heat Tie Series, Thunder Lead 2-0

Despite Jaylen Brown's impressive 33 points and Jayson Tatum's 28 for the Celtics, Miami managed to maintain their lead. A critical moment came with just three minutes remaining when Martin and Herro scored five crucial points to extend Miami's lead and secure the win. The series now moves to Miami for the upcoming third and fourth games.

Meanwhile, in another first-round series of the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder took a commanding 2-0 lead against the New Orleans Pelicans with a decisive 124-92 victory. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 33 points, closely followed by Chet Holmgren who added 26 points to the scoreboard. The Thunder showcased an impressive shooting performance, hitting 59 percent of their shots from the field and 48.3 percent from three-point range.

The Pelicans struggled offensively, particularly feeling the absence of Zion Williamson due to a strained left hamstring. Jonas Valanciunas tried to narrow the gap with 19 points, while Herbert Jones and Brandon Ingram each contributed 18 points. However, their efforts were not enough to counteract the Thunder's offensive onslaught. The series is set to continue with Game 3 in New Orleans.

This round of playoff games has been marked by exceptional performances and strategic gameplay, setting an intense pace for the remainder of the postseason. As teams vie for dominance in their respective series, fans are treated to basketball at its finest, characterized by skillful plays, strategic depth, and record-setting achievements.
