FIBA 3x3 World Tour Abu Dhabi Set To Showcase Olympic Stars And Global Talent
Once again, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) is set to host the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Abu Dhabi event, showcasing the world's premier 3x3 basketball players. Scheduled for October 26-27, this event will light up the Abu Dhabi Corniche with a custom-built arena, welcoming top athletes including those who shone at the recent Paris 2024 Olympics.
This championship will feature a mix of international 3x3 basketball talent, notably including gold medalists from the Amsterdam team at the Paris Olympics. Their attendance, along with the acclaimed Team Ub from Serbia and other top teams like Vienna, Hangzhou, and Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy, promises to deliver high-octane action. The list of participating teams is still being finalized, but anticipation is already building among fans worldwide.

Abu Dhabi's commitment to sports is evident in its dynamic calendar, filled with world-class events that attract global attention. From hosting the UFC Championships and the UAE Cycling Tour to the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship and the much-anticipated Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the capital has become a beacon for sports enthusiasts. The FIBA 3x3 World Tour Abu Dhabi epitomizes this spirit, further cementing the city's status as a significant sports hub.
The ADSC's dedication to promoting 3x3 basketball is mirrored in the city's eagerness to welcome this international spectacle, especially after the sport's successful inclusion in the Paris 2024 Olympics. "We are excited to bring the FIBA 3x3 World Tour back to Abu Dhabi, particularly after the remarkable display of 3x3 basketball at the Paris Olympics. The sport's rapid growth has been impressive, and we are confident that this tournament will further enhance its reputation, as we offer a thrilling and secure experience for both players and fans," stated His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
The event also marks a significant moment for local talent through the QUEST Community Championship. A local team will emerge from this year-long contest to join 14 international teams in the Abu Dhabi tournament, adding a unique local element to the global competition. This initiative by the ADSC underscores the city's commitment to nurturing sports at the grassroots level.
With a prize fund of US$160,000, including $40,000 for the champions, the event will feature musical performances, crowd participation events, and exciting competitions like the slam dunk contest and a shoot-out competition. This blend of sports and entertainment ensures an unforgettable experience for attendees.
Ignacio Soriano, 3x3 Head of Events at FIBA, highlighted the strong partnership with Abu Dhabi, noting, "Our partnership with this city and its sports leadership has flourished for nearly a decade now, solidifying Abu Dhabi as the ideal host for world-class 3x3 basketball. We eagerly anticipate our return to the capital and are confident that the Abu Dhabi event will once again radiate the vibrant energy that perfectly aligns with our organization's vision."
