Philadelphia 76ers' Embiid Celebrates Forming 'Fantastic' Trio With George And Maxey
Joel Embiid praised the Philadelphia 76ers' strategy, highlighting a promising trio with Paul George and Tyrese Maxey. Philadelphia recently signed George to a four-year contract worth $212 million. The team aims to compete for the Eastern Conference title next season after losing in the first round to the New York Knicks this year.
Maxey had a breakout season, averaging 25.9 points per game and winning the NBA's Most Improved Player Award. "I think as far as the fit, it looks amazing," Embiid told ESPN. "It is great when you got a player that posts up; you need willing shooters and guys not afraid to pull the trigger."

George is expected to boost the 76ers' performance significantly. Embiid noted George's shooting prowess, stating, "PG, great shooter, 40%, 45 catch and shoot; Tyrese, we know great shooter, off the dribble, catch-and-shoot." This combination of skills makes them a formidable team on paper.
The three stars aim to improve upon Philadelphia's No. 7 finish in the Eastern Conference standings last season. Embiid acknowledged that creating a new era won't be easy but remains optimistic about their potential. "It feels like you're starting from scratch," he said. "And I know there's going to be a lot of growing pains."
Embiid stressed the importance of patience and teamwork in achieving their goals. "The goal is always to win a championship, but it just doesn't happen overnight," he explained. "Hopefully, it doesn't take us as much time as it should when you're trying to bring everybody on the same page."
Patience and Legacy
Reflecting on past challenges, including James Harden's trade demand and uncertainties around Maxey, Embiid emphasized patience. "I'd be lying to say that patience wasn't tested," he admitted. He also highlighted his focus on winning championships over individual accolades.
"When you start thinking about what you want to be remembered as, you want to be remembered as someone that's won," Embiid said. He acknowledged that while plans can go wrong or right, execution on the court is crucial.
"On paper it looks great," Embiid concluded. "But we still got to go on the court and make it work." The 76ers are determined to turn their promising lineup into tangible success in the upcoming season.
