Boston Celtics Secure 2-0 Advantage Against Dallas Mavericks In NBA Finals

Jrue Holiday scored 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, leading the Boston Celtics to a 105-98 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. The win gives the Celtics a 2-0 series lead. Holiday's performance, which included making 11 of 14 field goal attempts, helped offset Jayson Tatum's off-shooting night.

Tatum struggled with a 6-of-22 shooting performance but contributed with 12 assists and nine rebounds. The Eastern Conference champions are now two wins away from their first NBA title since 2008. Boston's victory marks their ninth consecutive win in this post-season.

Celtics Up 2-0 in NBA Finals

Dallas' Luka Dončić recorded a triple-double with 32 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists in 42 minutes. Despite being a game-time decision due to a chest contusion from Game 1, Dončić also added four steals but committed eight of the Mavericks' 15 turnovers. Kyrie Irving managed 16 points on 7-of-18 shooting.

The Western Conference champions will attempt to avoid an 0-3 deficit when they host Game 3 on Wednesday. The Celtics have been formidable on the road, boasting a 6-0 record in these play-offs. Dallas led briefly at 55-54 early in the second half before Boston took control late in the third quarter.

Boston used a decisive 10-0 run, capped by Holiday's layup from a Tatum assist, to build a 75-63 lead with under three minutes left in the third period. The Celtics maintained their lead despite a late push from Dallas. Down by 14 with under three and a half minutes remaining, the Mavericks scored nine straight points to close within five at 103-98 with just over a minute left.

Dallas had an opportunity to narrow the gap further, but PJ Washington's dunk attempt was blocked by Derrick White in the final minute. Jaylen Brown then drove the lane and scored, extending Boston's lead to seven points with less than 30 seconds remaining.

Brown finished with 21 points and seven assists, while White added 18 points and made four of ten three-point attempts. Holiday had an impressive first half, scoring 17 points on seven-of-nine shooting. Despite this, the Celtics held only a slim lead of 54-51 at halftime as Dončić kept Dallas close with his own strong performance.

The next game is crucial for Dallas as they seek to avoid falling into an insurmountable deficit. Meanwhile, Boston aims to continue their strong play-off run and move closer to securing another championship title.
