Giannis Credits Doc Rivers for Milwaukee Bucks' Recent Success and High Standards
Following a significant victory over the Denver Nuggets, Giannis Antetokounmpo praised Doc Rivers for instilling high standards within the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks secured a 112-95 win against the reigning NBA champions, with Antetokounmpo achieving a double-double of 36 points and 18 rebounds. This victory marks Milwaukee's second consecutive win after breaking a three-game losing streak, positioning them third in the Eastern Conference with a 35-19 record before their upcoming game against the Miami Heat.
Despite facing challenges since taking over from Adrian Griffin, Rivers has led the Bucks to hold their opponents to under 100 points in back-to-back games for the first time since 2021. Antetokounmpo attributed this success to Rivers' high expectations and focus on defense. "Coach Doc is holding us to a high standard. He wants us to defend. He doesn't take lack of effort as an excuse," Antetokounmpo shared on Twitter on February 13, 2024.

Rivers expressed satisfaction with the team's defensive organization and progress. "Just steady progress," he commented, emphasizing the importance of understanding and trusting their defensive strategy to play with intensity. Damian Lillard also highlighted the accountability Rivers brings to the team, noting the thoroughness of film sessions, meetings, and practices in challenging the team across various aspects.
On the opposing side, Nikola Jokic led the Nuggets with 29 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists, as Denver currently stands fourth in the Western Conference. The Bucks' recent performances under Rivers' guidance have sparked optimism about their direction and identity as a team, with players and coaching staff working closely to refine their approach on both ends of the court.
