Maxey, at 23 years old, is coming off an impressive fourth season in the league. He averaged career highs of 25.9 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game. His performance earned him his first All-Star selection and the title of the league's Most Improved Player. During this year's playoffs, he elevated his game further, averaging 29.8 points, 6.8 assists, and 5.2 rebounds while shooting 40% from beyond the arc.

Despite their regular-season success over recent years, the Sixers have struggled in the playoffs. They have reached the postseason for seven consecutive years but have not advanced past the second round during this period. Over these seven seasons, Philadelphia boasts the NBA's fourth-highest winning percentage (.625).
