Top Three Finalists For 2024 World Car Awards Revealed

The Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) recently played host to a significant announcement from the World Car Awards, revealing the top three finalists in each category for the upcoming ceremony. Sandro Mesquita, CEO of GIMS, expressed excitement about showcasing the World Car Awards 2024 finalists, highlighting the event's global appeal to car enthusiasts. The awards ceremony, set for March 27th at the 2024 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), will mark the 19th year of collaboration between the World Car Awards and the NYIAS.

Mark Schienberg, NYIAS president, praised the role of the World Car Awards in launching the New York Auto Show annually. He acknowledged the achievement of being recognized by a panel of 100 of the world's leading automotive journalists. Meanwhile, Daniele Schillaci, CEO of Brembo, commended the finalists for their innovative spirit in a rapidly evolving automotive landscape.

2024 World Car Awards Finalists Revealed

From an initial list of 70 vehicles, jurors narrowed down the contenders to top three in various categories, including World Car of the Year, World Luxury Car, World Performance Car, World Electric Vehicle, World Urban Car, and World Car Design of the Year. The finalists were selected through a secret ballot based on extensive evaluations and test drives conducted by the jurors.

In the highly anticipated World Car of the Year category, the BYD Seal/Atto 4, Kia EV9, and Volvo EX30 emerged as the top contenders. The luxury segment saw the BMW 5 Series/i5, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV in the running, while the performance category included the BMW M2, BMW XM, and Hyundai Ioniq 5 N as finalists.

For the World Electric Vehicle award, the finalists are the BMW i5, Kia EV9, and Volvo EX30, showcasing the industry's focus on electrification. The World Urban Car category features the BYD Dolphin, Lexus LBX, and Volvo EX30, highlighting vehicles suited for city driving. The World Car Design of the Year finalists are the Ford Bronco, Ferrari Purosangue, and Toyota Prius, selected by a panel of design experts.

The journey to the World Car Awards involves jurors test-driving and evaluating eligible vehicles, with their experiences shared on World Car TV. This annual event not only celebrates automotive excellence but also reflects the evolving preferences and trends within the global automotive industry.
