Oriental Luxury: Hongqi Guoya Debuts In Abu Dhabi As Mubadala Sail Grand Prix Grand Final Partner

HONGQI has unveiled its latest Golden Sunflower flagship, the HONGQI GUOYA, at an exclusive gala event in Abu Dhabi, marking its role as Official Luxury Automotive Partner of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix 2025 Season Grand Final presented by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and highlighting the emirate’s importance to the marque’s global luxury strategy.

The Abu Dhabi gala gathered regional and international media for an immersive brand presentation, beginning with a dedicated press conference and followed by a gala dinner. Guests received detailed briefings from Giles Taylor, Chief Designer and Vice President of Global Design at China FAW, and were among the first in the Middle East to experience the HONGQI GUOYA.

HONGQI described the GUOYA reveal as a milestone in its expanding global luxury strategy, strengthening the brand’s presence in international markets. The company positioned Abu Dhabi, with its profile in innovation, culture, and luxury mobility, as a strategic market that supports its global growth and connection with ultra-luxury customers.

“HONGQI GUOYA represents a new chapter in Oriental ultra luxury. It carries the depth of Chinese cultural heritage while embracing a forward looking global design spirit,” said Giles Taylor. He added that Abu Dhabi has “rapidly become a global capital for luxury, design and high-performance experiences,” offering an exceptional stage for the marque.

Part of the Golden Sunflower ultra-luxury line, HONGQI GUOYA embodies the brand vision of “New Oriental Luxury for the World.” The sedan is positioned for distinguished users seeking identity, artistry, and refinement, combining Chinese cultural references with contemporary global design standards across its exterior form and interior detailing.

The GUOYA’s design draws inspiration from the architectural symmetry of Beijing’s central axis and the Forbidden City. Its front fascia reflects the proportions of the Hall of Supreme Harmony, while a 23.5° hood ornament symbolises cosmic balance, and rear styling references Tian’anmen’s skyline and traditional palace lantern forms.

Inside, the cabin translates Chinese decorative arts into a modern luxury setting, integrating lacquerwork, cloisonné enamel, gold-and-silver filigree, and classical embroidery. These elements are expressed through HONGQI’s new global design language, aiming to deliver a coherent aesthetic that pairs heritage craftsmanship with contemporary automotive design expectations.

HONGQI states that the GUOYA is powered by a self-developed V8 platform refined over 67 years, delivering 430 kW and 800 N·m of torque. A mid-mounted HOT-V twin-turbocharger architecture targets rapid responsiveness, while the lightweight structure and advanced NVH solutions are designed to support a quiet, composed ultra-luxury driving experience.

The interior specification includes S-Nappa leather with enhanced softness and breathability, alongside 24-way front and 22-way rear seat adjustments, incorporating massage, ventilation, and heating. These features are curated to deliver personalised comfort levels suitable for an ultra-luxury sedan aimed at highly discerning occupants.

HONGQI has integrated 4D seat-audio interaction, translating music into tactile sensations, and a 3,240-watt, 32-speaker audio system reportedly tuned with master musicians over 1,000 hours. Together, these components are designed to create a multisensory environment in which heritage, technology, and comfort converge within the passenger cabin.

Aligned with the brand philosophy of “Serene Assurance,” the first 30 GUOYA owners worldwide will receive four lifetime privileges: warranty, roadside assistance, on-demand inspection, and dedicated customer care. HONGQI positions this package as a long-term support framework for early adopters of the Golden Sunflower flagship.

Personalisation options include two-tone paint, hand-painted waistlines, custom embroidery, pure wool floor mats, and artisan lacquer keys. These bespoke elements allow each of the first owners to configure their HONGQI GUOYA to reflect individual identity and taste, complementing the model’s role within the Golden Sunflower ultra-luxury line.
