Volvo EX30 Named 2024 World Urban Car, Now Available In UAE
The fully electric Volvo EX30 has been named the 2024 World Urban Car at the World Car Awards, held during the New York International Auto Show. Standing out in a field of 38 nominees, the Volvo EX30 not only clinched this title but was also recognized as one of the top three cars globally, highlighting its minimal carbon footprint and innovative design.
The Volvo EX30 has gained international acclaim for its superior performance, including a commendable driving range of up to 476km. Its battery's rapid charging capability, reaching 80% from 10% in just over 25 minutes, sets a new standard in electric vehicle (EV) technology. Jim Rowan, Chief Executive of Volvo Cars, expressed his satisfaction with the award, viewing it as a strong endorsement of Volvo's electrification strategy. He noted the EX30's success in meeting the growing consumer demand for electric vehicles and anticipated its significant contribution to Volvo's growth.

Since its debut last summer, the EX30 has received widespread praise and multiple awards, underscoring its appeal in the EV market. Among its accolades are The Sun Car of the Year, the Small SUV/Crossover of the Year award from the Sunday Times, and the Eco Warrior of the Year award from Top Gear magazine. The EX30 is a vital component of Volvo's commitment to transitioning to an all-electric lineup by 2030.
Lee Parker, Brand Director at Volvo Cars UAE, emphasized the EX30's role in advancing electric mobility in the UAE. Since its unveiling in Dubai in December 2023, the EX30 has quickly become a customer favorite, expected to be among the best-selling models this year. Built on a dedicated electric car platform, the EX30 aims for minimal environmental impact, offering zero tailpipe emissions and a reduced lifecycle carbon footprint.
The EX30 is available with two electric powertrains: the Core variant featuring a Single Motor with 200kW (272hp) and a 51kWh battery; the Plus variant, offering an Extended Range with a 69kWh battery; and the Ultra Performance variant, which includes a Twin Motor model with 315kW (428hp) and a 69kWh battery. A limited edition of the Ultra Performance variant also comes with 20'' alloy wheels. Now available in the UAE via the authorized dealer Al-Futtaim Trading Enterprises, the Volvo EX30's starting price is Dh149,900.
