VinFast Founder Pham Nhat Vuong Unveils Global EV Charging Venture V-Green

In a significant move to bolster the electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, Pham Nhat Vuong, the founder of Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast, unveiled a new venture on Monday. The venture, named V-Green, is set to revolutionize the global EV charging landscape, with a special emphasis on supporting VinFast vehicles worldwide.

Vuong, a billionaire entrepreneur, disclosed that he holds a 90% stake in V-Green. The company aims to operate as a global partner in spearheading the development of a comprehensive EV charging network. "V-Green will directly search for land and partners to establish and expand its charging network in key markets of VinFast," Vuong stated, highlighting the strategic approach towards enhancing VinFast's global presence.

VinFast, established by Vuong in 2017, has rapidly gained prominence in the electric vehicle industry. Following its debut on the Nasdaq in the previous year, the company has ambitious plans to extend its market reach to at least 50 countries by 2024. This expansion underscores VinFast's commitment to becoming a significant player in the global EV market.

In its home country, Vietnam, V-Green will take on the responsibility of operating and managing VinFast's existing charging infrastructure. Furthermore, the company has plans to potentially offer charging services to other EV manufacturers, broadening its scope after five years of operation. This move indicates a future-oriented vision that extends beyond the immediate needs of VinFast vehicles.

To kickstart and enhance the charging network, V-Green is set to invest approximately $404 million over the next two years. This investment will be allocated towards establishing new outlets and upgrading existing ones, ensuring a robust and reliable charging infrastructure for EV users.

This initiative by Vuong and VinFast represents a proactive approach to addressing one of the critical challenges faced by the electric vehicle industry - the availability of convenient and efficient charging solutions. By focusing on the expansion and enhancement of the EV charging network, V-Green aims to facilitate a smoother transition for consumers towards sustainable and eco-friendly transportation options.
