UAEV's New Electric Vehicle Tariffs: What To Expect Starting January 2025

UAEV, the first government-owned electric vehicle (EV) charging network in the UAE, has embraced new EV tariffs set by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. These tariffs will take effect in January 2025. Despite the announcement of these tariffs last May, EV charging services have remained free. This initiative underscores UAEV’s dedication to service quality and aligns with the UAE’s vision for sustainability.

From January 2025, EV users will experience transparent and standardised fees. The tariff is established at 1.2 DHS/kWh plus VAT for DC chargers and 0.70 DHS/kWh plus VAT for AC chargers. This pricing ensures fairness while supporting operational excellence within the network.

To improve the EV driving experience, UAEV is launching a user-friendly mobile app. This application will offer features like locating charging stations easily, receiving live status updates, and making simple payments. These tools empower EV users to navigate the charging network efficiently.

In addition to the app, UAEV is introducing a 24/7 call centre dedicated to providing immediate support and assistance. This service ensures that users have seamless experiences at all times.

Sharif al Olama, Chairman of UAEV, stated, "This marks a transformative step in the UAE’s journey towards sustainable transportation." He emphasised that standardised tariffs and innovative solutions like the app and round-the-clock support reflect their commitment to enhancing EV driver experiences.

By 2030, UAEV plans to expand its network to include 1,000 chargers strategically placed across urban areas, highways, and transit points throughout the UAE. These locations will cover all emirates, ensuring accessibility for both inter-city and intra-city EV users.

Aligned with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy, UAEV is committed to promoting sustainable transport and reducing carbon emissions. By offering high-speed charging solutions and real-time network monitoring, UAEV empowers drivers and supports green mobility nationwide.

The integrated ecosystem provided by UAEV meets diverse user needs through reliability, accessibility, and innovation. This reinforces its role as a key enabler of the UAE’s transition towards greener energy solutions.

This initiative not only enhances service quality but also aligns with broader environmental goals. By expanding its network and adopting innovative solutions, UAEV aims to drive a cleaner future for everyone in the region.
