Safeline Group Partners With BYD And Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility To Electrify Logistics Fleet In The UAE
In a move that heralds a significant shift towards sustainable transportation within the UAE, Safeline Group, a key player in the electrical and mechanical distribution sector, has entered into an MoU with BYD, global manufacturer of new energy vehicles (NEVs).
The collaboration entails Safeline Group's acquisition of 12 all-electric vehicles from BYD, setting the stage for the company's ambitious plan to replace its entire fleet, currently powered by internal combustion engines (ICE), with electric vehicles (EVs) over the next three years.

This strategic alliance is a testament to Safeline Group's pioneering approach to embracing electric mobility. Previously, the company had integrated battery-powered forklifts into its warehouse operations, showcasing its commitment to sustainable practices. The decision to partner with BYD for this significant fleet upgrade further solidifies Safeline Group's role as a leader in green mobility within the trade and distribution sector.
Dr. Aboobacker Kuttikol, Managing Director of Safeline Group, stated, "This partnership with Al-Futtaim is more than just a fleet upgrade. It symbolises our unwavering commitment to sustainability and innovation. We have already integrated electric mobility into our warehouse operations through battery-powered forklifts, and this latest step demonstrates our ambition to extend that transformation across our entire fleet. As EV technology continues to evolve, we are also actively evaluating suitable electric options for our commercial vehicles to ensure a comprehensive shift to green transport."
The MoU, signed on July 2, aligns perfectly with the UAE's Net Zero 2050 aspirations and its broader green mobility agenda. It marks a decisive move away from dependence on traditional ICE vehicles, paving the way for a more sustainable future in Safeline Group's operations. This initiative not only contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions but also supports the UAE's national efforts to achieve a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
Mohammad Kassem, Retail Director at BYD Al-Futtaim, highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating, "This strategic alliance with Safeline Group exemplifies Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility's dedication to fostering a robust electrified mobility ecosystem in the UAE. We are committed to empowering businesses with the advanced EV solutions they need to achieve their sustainability objectives, and this partnership between Safeline Group and BYD is a prime example of how we are accelerating the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable transportation landscape."
