First Electric Tug in Middle East

The Damen RSD-E Tug 2513 distinguishes itself by offering a host of benefits that underscore its environmental and operational superiority. Primarily, it promises zero emissions from "Tank to Propeller," a critical feature that aligns with global efforts to mitigate marine pollution and combat climate change. The tug's operational efficiency is further highlighted by its impressive 70-ton bollard pull capacity, enabling it to maneuver the largest vessels with ease. Additionally, the transition to electric power is anticipated to yield cost savings through reduced maintenance expenses when compared to traditional diesel-powered tugs.

Captain Ammar Mubarak Al Shaiba, CEO – Maritime & Shipping Cluster, AD Ports Group, emphasized the strategic importance of integrating electric tugs into their fleet. He stated, "Implementing electric tugs into our operations aligns with our local and global ambitions for greener maritime operations. AD Ports Group's commitment to a sustainable future is underscored by adopting such technologies, contributing to the overall reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the maritime sector."

This strategic move by SAFEEN Group and AD Ports Group not only highlights their leadership in adopting green technologies but also sets a new standard for environmental responsibility in the maritime industry. By embracing the Damen RSD-E Tug 2513, they are effectively steering the sector towards a more sustainable and cost-efficient future, signaling a shift in how marine operations are conducted in the Middle East and potentially on a global scale.
