Rolls-Royce Elevates Bespoke Luxury With New Arcadia Droptail Vehicle

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has recently unveiled its newest addition to the bespoke automotive world, the Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail. This luxury vehicle marks the third installment in the Coachbuild Droptail series and epitomises the client's profound appreciation for architecture and design. Drawing inspiration from the idyllic concept of Arcadia, often referred to as 'Heaven on Earth', the design of this car aims to offer a peaceful oasis, focusing on simplicity, depth of materials, and tactile experience.

The exterior of the Arcadia Droptail showcases a tranquil, natural duotone color scheme, with a solid white base enhanced with aluminum and glass particles to create a shimmering effect. The car's lower sections are crafted from carbon fibre and are painted in a unique silver colour. Additionally, the exterior grille surround, vane pieces, and alloy wheels have undergone a full mirror-polish process, adding to the vehicle's luxurious appearance.

Inside, the Arcadia Droptail reflects the personal style of the client, boasting Santos Straight Grain wood throughout. This wood is celebrated for its distinctive, interlocking grain pattern, which has been utilised in the aerodynamically functional rear deck section. A total of 233 wood pieces were employed in the car's design, including 76 pieces solely for the rear deck. To protect the wood surfaces, Rolls-Royce artisans developed a bespoke lacquer, requiring only a single application for the car's lifespan.

The vehicle, based on the Rolls-Royce Phantom, was conceived and constructed by the Coachbuild division, underscoring Rolls-Royce's commitment to tailoring unique vehicles for individual clients. The Arcadia Droptail boasts both a unique exterior and interior design and includes a custom-made timepiece. The exterior features a bespoke white paint complemented by tan accents, while the interior is adorned in bespoke white leather with matching tan details.

A prominent feature within the car is a large wood panel that stretches across the width of the interior, composed of 40 sections, each meticulously mapped before installation. To accommodate this wood panel's complex curvature, Rolls-Royce engineers devised a new substructure. The vehicle also introduces a custom-made clock, a result of over two years of development. The clock showcases a geometric guilloché pattern and incorporates hands that are partly polished and partly brushed. The clock face is adorned with 12-hour markers, each measuring just 0.1mm in thickness, constructed from a variety of materials including ceramic coating and solid stainless steel billet. This thematic design extends to the instrument dials, featuring the same guilloché pattern and brushed and polished finishes.

Designed with left-hand drive to ensure global usability, clients had the opportunity to view the Arcadia Droptail in various locations worldwide through Rolls-Royce's virtual reality holodeck. This launch not only showcases the client's distinct taste but also highlights their enduring relationship and trust in Rolls-Royce Motor Cars to deliver unparalleled luxury and personalised design.
