Rare Gulf Oil Livery Porsche 918 Spyder Expected To Fetch $3 Million At Auction

One of the most unique 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder models is set to make waves in the auction world as it goes under the hammer with Gooding & Company. This particular vehicle, with its distinctive Gulf Oil racing livery, could fetch up to $3 million—surpassing the usual selling price range of $1.6 million to $1.9 million that similar models have commanded in recent years.

This Porsche 918 Spyder stands out not only for its exterior but also for its rarity and the story behind its creation. It is one of just 28 units allocated for the Canadian market and was one of two ordered by a collector who had a specific vision in mind. After Porsche initially declined to finish the cars in the requested Gulf Oil livery due to a lack of an official partnership with Gulf Oil, the collector took matters into his own hands. With permission from Gulf Oil secured by the buyer, Porsche agreed to the custom finish. The result was two cars, produced in late 2015, each with unique striping, seat piping, and interior trim differences.

Exceptional Features and Low Mileage

Unlike many vehicles with racing liveries, this 918 Spyder's design is not a vinyl wrap but an actual paint job. This car is also equipped with several high-value options, including the Weissach package, a front-axle lifting system, carbon fiber mats with Gulf Orange piping, a set of matching luggage, a Burmester Surround Sound system, and six-point racing harnesses. This particular model is numbered 325 out of the 918 examples built. Its interior boasts black leather seats with orange piping and stitching, and headrests embossed with the Gulf pattern. Adding to its allure, the car has been driven just 376 miles (605 km) since new, making it an exceptionally well-preserved specimen.
