Nissan Launches The Arc To Boost Global Growth And Electrification

Nissan has unveiled its latest global business strategy, The Arc, designed to enhance its competitiveness and profitability across the AMIEO region, which encompasses Africa, the Middle East, India, Europe, and Oceania. This new plan serves as a pivotal link between Nissan's FY20-23 business transformation efforts and its ambitious long-term goals outlined in Ambition 2030. The strategy emphasizes a significant push towards electrification, the introduction of innovative products, the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, and the formation of strategic partnerships aimed at boosting sales and profitability globally.

In a significant move for the automotive industry in the Middle East, Nissan has announced plans to launch five new SUVs in the region, with two models being built and exported from India. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to introduce electric vehicles (EVs) in the Middle East, leveraging Nissan's strong brand presence to foster further growth. The AMIEO region is integral to Nissan's global strategy for volume growth, which includes increased electrification, a balanced product portfolio, and financial discipline. Nissan's goal is to boost its global sales by 1 million units, with nearly one-third of this increase expected to come from the AMIEO region.

Nissan's New Growth Plan: The Arc

Globally, Nissan is set to introduce 16 new electrified vehicles alongside 14 internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. Within the AMIEO region specifically, the company plans to launch five new EVs and six new ICE vehicles, including the widely acclaimed LEAF model. Strategic partnerships are a cornerstone of Nissan's approach to enhancing its competitiveness and expanding its product portfolio. In Europe, collaboration with Renault/Ampere will facilitate the introduction of a new Compact EV and two new Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs). In Oceania, Nissan will capitalize on its partnership with Mitsubishi Motors to launch a new 1-tonne pickup. Furthermore, in India, Nissan aims to bolster its alliance with Renault and enhance its manufacturing footprint, positioning India as a key export hub for the region.

Accelerating Electrification in AMIEO

Nissan is committed to accelerating the transition towards electric vehicles in the AMIEO region. By 2026, the company anticipates that over 40% of its sales mix in Europe will be electric vehicles and 75% will be electrified models. The EV36Zero vision encompasses EV and battery manufacturing initiatives, including the production of new electric vehicles at Nissan's Sunderland plant in the UK. Additionally, Nissan plans to commercialize vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology, enabling Nissan EVs to share stored energy back with the electricity grid. This innovative approach not only opens new revenue streams for Nissan but also offers benefits for customers and contributes positively to environmental sustainability.

Regional Highlights Under The Arc Plan

The Arc plan outlines specific objectives for each sub-region within AMIEO. In India, Nissan aims to launch three new models, triple sales volumes, and strengthen its manufacturing capabilities. In Africa, the company's strategy includes doubling sales and introducing new SUV models. Europe will see the launch of five new EVs as well as the development of third-generation e-POWER technology. In Oceania, Nissan plans to introduce four new models and increase its focus on electrification.

Through The Arc strategy, Nissan is poised to deliver innovative products and technologies that will transform its business operations from within while creating additional revenue streams. This comprehensive plan lays a solid foundation for achieving Nissan's long-term vision of becoming a sustainable company that contributes to a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive world.
