MG Reveals All-New Hybrid Supermini MG3 With Advanced Hybrid+ Technology

In a significant development within the hybrid vehicle sector, MG has unveiled its latest creation, the all-new MG3, a hybrid supermini designed to offer an unmatched combination of performance, efficiency, and refinement. The MG3 features the innovative Hybrid+ powertrain, showcasing a larger battery and a more powerful electric motor than its B-segment hybrid competitors.

The MG3 stands out for its spacious interior and compact size, ideal for urban driving scenarios. It matches the best in class in terms of interior equipment and space, providing practicality and efficiency.

Key Features of the MG3 Hybrid+

At the heart of the MG3 is the state-of-the-art Hybrid+ powertrain, marking MG's first venture into conventional, non-plug-in hybrid technology. This system is composed of five key elements: engine, transmission, battery, electric motor, and generator. Despite its focus on efficiency, the system delivers remarkable performance, making the MG3 the fastest accelerating model in the hybrid B-segment, with a 0-100kph sprint time of just 8.0 seconds.

The Hybrid+ powertrain produces a combined 143kW, offering fuel economy figures of 64mpg (4.4l/100km) and CO2 emissions of 100g/km. The 1.83kWh battery pack enables a significant electric-only driving range, enhancing the vehicle's efficiency further.

Diverse driving modes include EV, Series, Series and Charge, Drive and Charge, and Parallel, each automatically selected by the Hybrid+ system to adapt to various driving conditions seamlessly.

Performance and Efficiency Combined

The MG3 features a 75kW 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 100kW electric motor, along with a separate generator motor, allowing for a wide range of powertrain operating modes. This versatility ensures the MG3 offers leading performance figures for a hybrid B-segment hatchback, along with flexible operation across different driving environments.

Moreover, the MG3 is equipped with a three-speed automatic transmission, ensuring both an efficient and enjoyable driving experience. Drivers can also choose from three driving modes - Eco, Standard, and Sport - to tailor the vehicle's responsiveness according to their preferences.
