MG Motor Achieves Top Five Status Among GCC Car Manufacturers in 2023

In a significant upward movement within the automotive industry, MG Motor has escalated to the fifth position among the Middle East's leading car manufacturers in 2023, marking yet another year of record-breaking achievements. The brand showcased an impressive annual sales figure of 63,691 units, culminating in a 4.2% market share. This accomplishment is highlighted by a 10.8% increase in sales, continuing MG's streak of double-digit growth since its inception in the Middle East.

MG's ascent to being one of the top five automotive brands in the region is underscored by substantial gains in market share, particularly notable in Oman and Iraq. In Oman, MG boasts a 10% market share, securing the second position, while in Iraq, it achieved a 9.9% market share and fourth place ranking. These achievements underscore the brand's growing customer trust and the effective support from its expanding sales and after-sales network.

To address the increasing demand, MG has unveiled plans to open 17 new showrooms in 2024, augmenting the existing 49 showrooms. Furthermore, the brand's commitment to superior customer service will be bolstered through the establishment of 26 new service facilities, raising the total to 73 state-of-the-art service centres.

MG is steadfast in driving innovation, with its lineup of models reinforcing the brand's position as a leader in technological advancements within the automotive sector. In 2023, the MG 5 and the compact SUV MG ZS emerged as the top-performing models in the region, with sales reaching 23,321 and 11,285 units, respectively.

Tom Lee, Managing Director of MG Motor's Middle East operations, shared insights into the brand's recent successes, including expansion into Morocco and Palestine and a new partnership in Saudi Arabia with Jiad Modern Motors, a Mohamed Yousuf Naghi company. Lee attributed a significant part of this success to MG's focus on after-sales services, with a remarkable parts availability rate of 97 percent in the past year.
