2015 Lamborghini Veneno Roadster Featured On SBX Cars Breaks Online Auction Record With $6 Million Sale

Last week, a Dubai-based 2015 Lamborghini Veneno Roadster featured on SBX Cars made headlines by becoming the most valuable car ever sold through an online auction platform, fetching a staggering $6,000,000. This historic transaction not only set a new record for online car auctions but also underscored the significant value of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, surpassing the previous record held by a 2017 Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta, which sold for $5,360,000 in 2022.

The Veneno Roadster, a rare gem with only nine units in existence, had previously been presented at a traditional in-person auction in 2020. Despite an estimated sale price of between €4,500,000 and €5,500,000, it astonishingly failed to find a buyer at that time. The vehicle boasts a royal pedigree, having been owned by a member of the House of Saud, Saudi Arabia's royal family, and is powered by a 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine. It offers an impressive 750 PS / 552 kW / 740 HP, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, and has a top speed of 355 km/h.

Finished in matt black with a lime green and black leather interior, the Veneno Roadster also features lime-green pinstriping on its exterior. This detailing adds a unique contrast to its fighter-jet-inspired bodywork, making it a standout piece among super sports cars.

In just two months since its launch, SBX Cars has attracted thousands of bidders from over 40 countries, successfully selling cars to buyers in the US, Mexico, Dubai, Kuwait, Germany, and Hong Kong. The platform is the first of its kind, offering a global premium auction site dedicated to selling the most sought-after and collectible vehicles worldwide.

Moreover, SBX Cars has secured the exclusive rights to auction the Lotus Black&Gold Collection in September. This much-anticipated event will feature the world's largest collection of historic Lotus cars and rare collectibles from the John Player Special Formula One era, including more than 25 rare lots such as Grand Prix racing cars, race team transporters, a Cessna 414A, and a Lotus Esprit once owned by Lotus founder Colin Chapman.

Looking ahead, SBX Cars aims to break another world record with the upcoming auction of one of only three Lamborghini Veneno Coupes. Further details on the 127-mile Veneno Coupe can be found on the SBX Cars website.

Legacy of the Veneno Roadster

The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, developed to celebrate Lamborghini's 50th anniversary, is a variant of the Lamborghini Aventador. It was unveiled in Abu Dhabi's Mina Zayed port on the Italian naval aircraft carrier Nave Cavour in December 2013. Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Lamborghini, praised the Roadster at its debut for being among the world's most exclusive cars with extraordinary performance.

This fully road-legal, open-top car combines the aerodynamic efficiency of a racing prototype with extreme design and performance on the road. The Veneno Roadster featured on SBX Cars, the second to leave Lamborghini's Sant'Agata factory, was offered in virtually as-new condition, with only 1,778 kilometres on the odometer, making its sale a noteworthy event in the automotive auction industry.
