Karwa Motors Signs Deal To Supply 5,000 School Buses In Oman
In a significant move for Oman's automotive sector, Karwa Motors has inked a pivotal agreement with the Ministry of Education and the Oman Development Bank (ODB) to assemble and supply 5,000 school buses. This initiative is set to elevate the safety and security standards of school transportation within the Sultanate. Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmed Al Muhannadi, Chairman of Karwa Motors, highlighted this collaboration as a milestone that propels the bus manufacturing industry towards self-sufficiency.
The project aims to overhaul the school transport vehicles across Omani public schools, offering investors favorable financing options through the ODB. In a parallel development, Karwa Motors secured its position as a primary supplier for Omani government tenders through an additional agreement with the Oman Government Tender Board.

The ceremony, marking these agreements, saw attendance from notable figures such as Sheikh Mubarak bin Fahad Al-Thani, Qatar's Ambassador to Oman; Eng. Ahmad bin Hassan Al Obaidly, a Board Member at Karwa Motors; Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi; Eng. Badr bin Salem Al Maamari, Secretary General of the Oman Tender Board; and Majid bin Saeed Al Bahri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education.
Dr. Al-Muhannadi reflected on Karwa Motors' journey, noting its recent achievement in assembling and delivering 100 buses for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. He attributed these new agreements to the successful partnership between Qatar Investment Authority's Mowasalat (Karwa) company and the Oman Investment Authority. He praised the initiative for blending Qatari and Omani expertise to localize the bus manufacturing industry.
This collaboration not only marks a significant leap in enhancing the quality and safety of school transportation in Oman but also underscores the importance of strategic partnerships in advancing local industries. By leveraging mutual strengths, Karwa Motors is set to play a crucial role in shaping the future of bus manufacturing and supply in the region.
