Saudi Arabia Leads Urban Air Mobility With First Successful Air Taxi Trial in Makkah
In an historic move for urban air mobility, Front End, in partnership with the leading technology platform company EHang, has successfully conducted the first unmanned air taxi trial in Makkah. This initiative is part of a broader effort to integrate advanced technology solutions across various sectors within Saudi Arabia, showcasing a significant leap towards modernizing pilgrimage transportation during the Hajj.
The collaboration between Front End and EHang, under the guidance of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services, the Ministry of Hajj, and the Ministry of Interior, signifies a major step towards achieving a faster, more efficient, and sustainable Hajj experience. This partnership highlights the effective role government-private alliances play in introducing innovative solutions to the Kingdom.

Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, President of GACA, commented on the trial, emphasizing its importance in integrating Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) solutions into Saudi Arabia's aviation framework. Al-Duailej highlighted the commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards and ensuring seamless integration into the existing air traffic systems.
