Formula E Collaborates With Aggreko For Eco-Friendly Event Power Solutions

Formula E, the pioneering electric car racing series, has taken a significant step towards its sustainability goals by partnering with Aggreko, a global leader in energy solutions. This collaboration is set to enhance the environmental efficiency of the racing events, aligning with Formula E's ambition to reduce its emissions by 45% across various scopes by 2030, a target validated by the Science Based Target initiative. This partnership underscores both entities' commitment to promoting sustainable energy solutions in the world of motorsport.

As an Official Provider, Aggreko will be instrumental in powering Formula E events with renewable energy sources. This includes the use of biofuel generators, solar arrays, and cutting-edge battery technology. Specifically, Aggreko plans to deploy six 300kVA batteries capable of charging four race cars simultaneously—equivalent to powering 84,000 mobile phones. These batteries will be crucial in select races to ensure the efficient and eco-friendly operation of the events.

The initiative also involves Stage V Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) powered generators that emit 90% less CO2 compared to traditional diesel. This significant reduction in emissions contributes directly to Formula E's sustainability objectives. Additionally, selected tracks will feature solar arrays to further support the charging infrastructure, maximizing the environmental benefits of these technological solutions.

Aggreko's expertise extends beyond just providing power. The company is known for creating specialized energy plans tailored to the unique requirements of each race location. This includes not only powering the race cars but also ensuring that all aspects of the event, from on-site hospitality to fan experiences and operational points around the track, are catered for efficiently and sustainably.
