Brembo Strengthens Global Presence With New €40 Million Facility In Thailand

Brembo, recognized as a leading authority in the development of braking systems, has officially marked its entry into Thailand by inaugurating its first manufacturing facility in the country. This significant move, involving an investment of around 40 million euros, is part of Brembo's strategic plan to broaden its industrial footprint worldwide. The establishment of this new site underscores the company's ambition to tap into emerging growth prospects within the Southeast Asian market.

Slated to commence operations with the production of braking systems for motorcycles, particularly focusing on European and American manufacturers, the facility is strategically positioned in Thailand's motorcycle industry hub located in Rayong province, a short distance south of Bangkok. Upon reaching full operational capacity, the facility is set to provide employment for approximately 150 individuals.

Daniele Schillaci, the CEO of Brembo, expressed the significance of the Thai production site, stating, "The opening of the new production site in Thailand is a crucial step in our global expansion strategy." He further highlighted the move as a reinforcement of Brembo's commitment to the motorcycle segment and its role as a solutions provider for clients in Thailand. Schillaci emphasized, "With this investment, we lay the groundwork for further developments of our business in the ASEAN region."

The groundbreaking ceremony, which took place on Friday, February 16, initiated the commencement of the construction work. The site is projected to start its operations in the first quarter of 2025. It spans approximately 17,000 square meters on a parcel of land measuring around 40,000 square meters, with potential for expansion up to 95,000 square meters to accommodate future growth.

Strengthening Motorcycle Market Presence

This new project in Thailand complements Brembo's recent strategic investments aimed at bolstering its presence in the motorcycle market. Notably, the acquisitions of SBS Friction in Denmark and J.Juan in Spain between 2020 and 2021 have played a pivotal role in expanding Brembo's product offerings for two-wheelers. As a result of these strategic moves, the motorcycle segment now represents roughly 13% of Brembo's total revenues.

Through its expansion into Thailand and its recent acquisitions, Brembo continues to solidify its position as a global leader in the braking systems industry. The company's strategic investments and its new production site in Thailand are set to further enhance its offerings and capabilities, ensuring its competitiveness in the rapidly evolving motorcycle market.
