BMW IX3: A New Electric Sports Activity Vehicle Set To Launch In 2025
BMW has unveiled the latest BMW iX3, a fully electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), highlighting the company's strides in sustainable development and technological advancement.
This new-generation model introduces the "Heart of Joy" drivetrain and dynamic management technology, elevating handling precision. Notably, it showcases a substantial leap in design and technology, aligning with BMW's electrification, digitalisation, and circularity goals. The iX3's design is all about a modern exterior and a driver-centric, comfortable interior, aiming to set a new benchmark in the electric vehicle (EV) sector.

Scheduled for production in Debrecen, Hungary, the BMW iX3 will first roll out the 50 xDrive variant in autumn 2025, featuring 469 hp and electric all-wheel drive. Following this, additional electric models and a variant tailored for the Chinese market are expected.
The European market will see its launch in spring 2026, with a subsequent USA release in summer 2026. This timeline underscores BMW's commitment to expanding its electric vehicle portfolio across global markets.
The iX3 is equipped with the latest sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, boasting an impressive range of up to 805 kilometers and a peak charging capacity of 400 kW. Its highly efficient electric motors, innovative high-voltage battery design with cylindrical cells, and 800V technology contribute to higher efficiency, extended range, and rapid charging capabilities.
Remarkably, the iX3 50 xDrive can be charged to 80% in just 21 minutes. Furthermore, its bidirectional charging feature not only supports external devices but also allows the vehicle to feed energy back into the grid, marking a significant step towards smart energy management.
The vehicle's advancements extend to its software and electronics, incorporating four high-performance computers to significantly enhance automated driving systems. This new electronics architecture ensures the iX3 remains at the forefront of technological evolution, allowing for continuous system upgrades and the introduction of future innovations.
In line with BMW's commitment to sustainability, the iX3 demonstrates a significant reduction in its lifecycle carbon footprint by more than 30% compared to its predecessor. This achievement is largely due to the use of secondary materials throughout the vehicle and the optimization of the supply chain for greater environmental responsibility.
Specifically, the iX3 has achieved a 34% reduction in its product carbon footprint over its lifecycle, embodying BMW's dedication to combining technological innovation with environmental stewardship.
This model stands as a pivotal element in BMW's broader strategy to introduce Neue Klasse technologies across 40 new models and updates by 2027. By integrating these advancements, BMW aims to redefine the automotive landscape, prioritizing electrification, digitalization, and circularity.
The BMW iX3 not only marks a significant milestone in BMW's journey towards a more sustainable and technologically advanced future but also sets new standards in the electric vehicle industry.
